Hang Loose
Posted: July 31, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »Just hanging loose over here today. Dropped off some stuff at the Wildwood Crest post office branch. It’s a gift shop with a postage counter next to the candy case. ha Weather sucks. Not much beach this week. Look for the first Urban Achiever ad in the next issue of Punk Planet. Out.
Humid & Freezing?
Posted: July 30, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »I managed to get to the beach for an hour or so today. The water was freezing. It was less humid earlier but now it is really humid. Yikes. I got my new cell phone from AT&T today. That is another long customer service horror story that I will not bore you with. To sum up…I moved to a place where they no longer have service but they still are binding me to a year long contract. I had to upgrade my phone and extend my contract. What can I say, they had me by the balls. At least it’s a nice new color phone with games, etc. But I can’t say I enjoyed re-entering my entire phone book. Oh brother. I really have nothing constructive to offer today. Sorry…
Consignment Sale Rock Show
Posted: July 27, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »Well…Thursday I spent the day in Philadelphia putting CD’s from Urban Achiever on consignment. I had Keith from Movies With Heroes along for the ride. We also stopped to see the free Sense Field in-store at Tower. They did pretty well. I picked up some new CD’s as their are no record stores in my town. Got Sense Field, Yellowcard, Thrice, The Mars Volta and the new Clash DVD. Later that evening I had a nice dinner with Keith, Jeremy and Julie. I had meat loaf, mashed potatoes and salad. Nice comfort food. Then we went to the Grape Street Pub to see Evelyn Hope play. They did awesome. I spent the night in a downtown Philly hotel. The next day I had a quick meeting with Eva at Fata Booking. Well, it wasn’t much of a meeting. I did spend about 40 minutes being mawled by their dog Jack (I think that was his name). A big black dog that did not want to leave me alone. Then I drove to Lancaster. Went to a couple more record stores with Keith to peddle my new releases. Then we went and loaded up their van as they had a show to play. Had a meeting with them over dinner and then watched them play a fantastic show in Lancaster. They really played great. And their new guitarist Chem, along with being a great guy, was also fun to watch and an awesome guitar player. I drove home after the show. It took about 3 1/2 hours. Yesterday Ronee and I went to Atlantic City. She had never been and neither had I. We went to check out this light/fireworks show by Gert Hof (some world renowned guy, I guess) at the Taj Mahal. It was free. It was pretty cool. It’s the first time he has ever done one of his light shows in North America. So, that was cool. We went inside the Taj Mahal. It’s huge. We blew about 15 bucks on one of those new slot machines with the buttons (whatever they are called). We also ate and walked around on the boardwalk. It’s just like Las Vegas…only at the beach instead of the desert. It was pretty fun. Got in about 2 am and slept in real late today. Just taking it easy… It’s been a crazy few days. It was awesome to finally hang out with Movies With Heroes. Great people. Great time. Can’t wait to do it again!
Very Puzzling
Posted: July 23, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »Goodness me. What is he doing up at this hour! Well…I’ve been unpacking, cleaning, hanging pictures, playing Tetris Worlds on Playstation (my girlfriend told me I suck at it, so now I have to practice! ha), working on a puzzle of Notre Dame that Ronee and I started this past weekend, sending e-mails, etc. I’m sure the culprit was caffeine…but if it weren’t for some of these long nights I’d probably never get anything done. Goodnight.
Cloudy With No Chance Of Beach Time
Posted: July 22, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »No beach for me today. Too cloudy and I should give my poor skin (skin that has been hidden mostly from the sun for the last 13 years while I was living in Seattle) a break. I know, your heart is really breaking for me. : ) On order for today is planning my trip to Pennsylvania, booking and more booking and the day to day business of running my management company and “record label”. I’ve noticed that more and more of you have been stopping by my website. That’s real humbling. I feel pressure now though, to be entertaining. Most of the stuff I write on here is pretty boring to me…just day to day stuff. It’s fun for me to look back later and see what I’ve been doing. Alright, back to work!
I Literally Get Around
Posted: July 21, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »I’m just starting to realize that I must be setting some new kind of record. At least for people who aren’t running from the law, it must be. Living in 3 states and 2 coasts in the span of a year. That’s a lot of moving. Over the holidays I also went to Florida and then The Bahamas with my family and girlfriend. So if you include the cross country drive, living in Washington, then California and now New Jersey and travels I’ve had a pretty crazy year. Anyway, when you live like this it takes a sunny morning in July to finally put this all together. When you have a moment alone to breathe and reflect on where you have been and where you are going. Went to the beach yesterday. The surf was still shore break, but was better. I caught more waves yesterday than all week combined. I didn’t make it to Avalon. Maybe next week. We’re supposed to have a chance of thunderstorms every day this week. That’s no fun. I’m traveling up to Lancaster and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the end of this week to see and hang out with Movies With Heroes and Evelyn Hope (not in that order). It should be a good time. I have been to Philadelphia multiple times and Lancaster once. Ronee and I have been playing a lot of tetris on Playstation. I’m always amazed how simple games like that can keep your attention and be exciting…especially in contrast to all these crazy high tech games they have for kids these days. All I know is in spite of everything I have been blessed and fortunate. I also have the following message for everybody today. LIVE YOUR LIFE! Don’t settle for the cookie cutter go to school-get a job-get married-have kids-die life. You have more power (sorry about the pun) in you than you even realize to do what you want. Your job sucks? Quit! Don’t like where you live? Move! Want to get out more and see some stuff? Get out and go see the world! Don’t like your friends? Stop hanging out with them. You get my point, I’m sure. Stop being a victim of circumstance. I was and I only have my self to blame. I think about all the time I wasted waiting for death to come. You only have so much life to live. Now get out there and live it!
Beach Bum
Posted: July 18, 2003 Filed under: Personal Updates Leave a comment »I went to the beach again yesterday. That’s 3 days in a row! I love it. Ben Folds has a new EP coming out. Excited about that. Um… I love these new marshmellow candy things I got. They are fruit jelly filled. Sounds crazy, I know. But damn, they are good. Not much else to report. I’m getting tan/burned. My lady is on the way down to the shore and soon it will be the weekend. Hallelujah.
