Sure, just go ahead and talk about whatever you want Billy. Just like the Letterman/Joaquin interview – except without the laughs. Half way point forward is where it gets real brutal. Would it be off-base for me to mention that Billy Bob has a phobia regarding antique furniture? Toward the end they make some peace for the most part, but then Billy refuses to sing and makes his band perform instrumental. Awesome.
I finally found a gas station that has ethanol-free gas. I filled up there this morning and thought I’d share a couple of pictures to illustrate the joy of scootering in these financially strapped times…
HERE’S WHAT THE PERSON BEFORE ME PAID…
HERE’S WHAT I PAID TO FILL UP…
I filled up with Premium. And yes, I am bragging! Ha ha. How should I spend the $44.84 I saved?
I got the subject of today’s post from Celeste a Twitter user and winner of Jimmy Eat World autographed vinyl of their record “Futures.” They signed the album and then left it on top of a PAY PHONE outside a Circle K in Tempe, Arizona. They posted on Twitter saying you could go get it. How nuts is that?!?
Speaking of crazy, the last couple of weeks have been pretty nuts.
It all started back on March 12th when Ronee and I had an awesome dinner with our buddies Brad & Sara at our new favorite restaurant, September’s, in Hendersonville. It was the anniversary of the place and everything on the menu was 50% off. That place is worth full price, easily, but at half off it was a steal. Fun times, great food, good beer. It was great!
On the weekend I worked at the Brad Paisley concert on Saturday and the Winter Jam concert on Sunday at the Sommet Center. Brad Paisley’s guitarist was wearing a Mighty Mighty Bosstones t-shirt. That was funny. That was an interesting contrast in crowds. Boy was I tired when that was all over!
That Monday I went over to Peabody/Vanderbilt to watch my awesome smart wife get inducted into the National Honor Society for getting all A’s her first sememester in graduate school. I never even went to college, so all this stuff is over my head. All I know is she got a really nice pin and certificate and that she’s amazing.
The next day was St. Patrick’s Day. We had a really nice dinner of fish and chips (me) and reuben sandwich (her) at Findley’s Irish Pub. I also had Guinness, a car bomb and a shot of Power’s Irish Whiskey (naturally). Fantastic!
Wednesday (the 18th) I kept the St. Paddy’s party rolling with the Flatfoot 56 show at The Anchor. I had been wanting to see those guys for sometime and they did not disappoint! They are a “celtic punk” band from Chicago and they have a guy who plays bagpipes! Great stuff. Go check them out if they are ever in your area. Very nice dudes, as well.
Thursday we stopped by The Icon for Ellie’s Run For Africa wine tasting benefit. Our friend Tiffany is involved with this run and I have volunteered for it in the past. I love the Icon. This is my second time going there for an event. It’s a cool new condo development in The Gulch. Great views of the city! We had a lot of fun hanging out with Mike, Jenna, Brad, Sara and the usual suspects.
After the benefit, we then we ran over to The Basement to catch my friend Steve Oyola’s (Evelyn Hope) band from Jersey, Holler Wild Rose. It was cool to catch up with him and to meet his bandmates – all very wonderful people. Cool show too.
Saturday (the 21st) I worked at the Women’s SEC Championship for gymnastics. I don’t know why, but I volunteered to work in the elevator. 5 hours sitting on a stool checking passes and pushing buttons in an elevator was not so hot.
The following Friday was Ronee’s birthday (Happy Birthday Ronee!) and we went to TGI Friday’s where I had a burger and some pints of Shock Top. Then we headed over to Lonnie’s Karaoke Bar on West End. Ronee performed Hey Ya by Outkast, which was hilarious and awesome. Jessie and I destroyed Bowie/Queen’s “Under Pressure“. Somehow I ended up on my knees. The people there did not look like they were enjoying our performance. I do not like karaoke, especially when it’s serious, but it was fun. I think they thought I was drunk, but I was the designated driver. A fine line between drunk and crazy I guess. Ha! Ronee had a blast, so mission accomplished!
The next day I worked at the Predators Vs Kings hockey game. Great and close game! I was working on the 100 level and had a great view of the action. I also worked at the concert for Earth Hour afterward where Jo Dee Messina performed. Also ran into my cousin, which was really funny and random. On the way home I picked up a $5 cheese pizza at a new Little Caesar’s that opened up near our house. How did I know it was there? I just followed the searchlights. True story!
Sunday I got to participate in a Poker Run to benefit Cowboy Keith, a local Nashville scooterist who was hit by a car. You can read a blog I wrote about it over at MusicCityMisfits.com.
Speaking of Music City Misfits…that is a new scooter club that Ethan, Josh and I started recently. Josh did a kick ass job getting the doman registered and launching the website. Ethan contributed some great photos and content. We are pretty stoked to have our own club. And yes, we are scooter nerds!
Generally, I have really been enjoying riding my new scooter and commuting to work on it. I was able to ride a total of 18 days in March (last week I rode all 5 days). I’m super stoked that the weather is getting nicer. You just can’t beat 70-70 miles per gallon and $2 to fill up with premium!
Late last night Ronee and I went to check out our friends Marrow performing at Family Wash in East Nashville. It was $10 pint and pie (Shepherd’s Pie) night and the place was packed. They did great and I enjoyed my pint and pie. But it was getting late and I was getting tired. So, off we went. Whew!
Finally, my good buddy Buka rolled into town this week. He, Mike and I went out for dinner Monday night. It was a blast catching up! He works for Spike TV and is in town for a UFC event. He hooked me up with some tickets so I’m going to the live fight tonight at Sommet Center. This will be a first! I have never even been to a boxing match, let alone ultimate fighting. Should be interesting!
I got to work at 8am this morning (normally start at 10am) which gave me some time to finally catch you all up. My parents and sister arrive tomorrow from Seattle. I have not seen them since our wedding almost 3 years ago. It will be great to spend some time with them. So the crazy non-stop train of events just keeps on rolling!
I don’t think I will be sleeping in any time soon!
