Scooter Time

Finally a day of beautiful weather. I took my scooter in and got a new headlight lamp. And then I got gas. And then I tightened up all the nuts and bolts and gave my scooter the once over. Finally I cleaned it from top to bottom and wiped down all the panels with Armor-All. Looking good! I also ordered a new rain suit from Frogg Toggs and a tinted sun visor for my helmet. My scoot is now my primary mode of transportation so I have to take care of it! Thinking about organizing a rally for Labor Day weekend here in Nashville. Is that crazy? Maybe. Psyched that spring is here!

I've Got Olympics Fever!

Photograph: Gero Breloer/AP

I am really amazed by some of these Olympic athletes. It’s so astonishing and touching to see them overcome personal demons, injuries and rivalries to triumph in competition. I can’t imagine the kind of pressure that a every-four-years moment must carry. What a load that must be! I really enjoyed watching Shawn White’s snowboarding and skier Lindsey Vonn push through a shin injury to win gold – her first. The HD coverage on NBC looks incredible. Looking forward to seeing some of the hockey games!

So That's What It Looks Like In There

I had my follow up appointment for my knee surgery this morning. My doctor gave me a bunch of cool color photos from the surgery showing the damage, my ACL, etc. Pretty epic. That’s one of the sheets pictured above. This is way better than any school pictures I ever got. That big band that all the lines are going to is my torn meniscus that was removed. The bottom right picture is of my ACL. In the words of my doctor, “there’s nothing subtle about that tear.” It really goes a long way in explaining visually why I’ve been unable to walk like a normal human being for almost 3 months.

So, I have a physical therapy appointment on Friday. My ACL is damaged and weakened which is why my knee gives out in the first place. So I’m on a schedule of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee to help stabilize it.

Anyway, I’m feeling a lot better. I’m really excited to have this mostly behind me now.

It's Time To Get Lenty

I wrote a blog about how I’m giving up Twitter and Facebook for Lent.

But my wife was making fun of me for missing a spot on my head when I shaved it. And when she was pushing on it I acidentally deleted everything.

She said it’s ok because nobody cares about my thoughts anyway except for her and that I’m wasting my time with this stupid blog.

She’s probably right.

Fran & Mario Cowan Just Made My Day

Married 62 years! They are 90 years old! This really picked up my spirits this morning. I might have to start every day watching this video!

UPDATE:
Thanks to Kristy Martin for pointing me in the direction of this interview with my new heroes Marlow and Frances. I love them!
